Lot’s of people right now are saying what do you mean, it was great for the company I work for and it increased corporate sales by millions. Yes, around 20% of the people will argue this because 15 to 20% of the American people work for large big box companies that actually did benefit from globalization so far. However the other 80% of Americans got stung from globalization as we know it. You might think well that’s a nationalist attitude and we need trade, no I’m not a nationalist, I am a realist and I do believe in global trade, however I believe in global trade the right way putting culture in the front. making contracts with rock solid agreements that could not be broken.
Culture and global trade and how the west got screwed
When we started Nafta and began making global trade agreements, it was a quick process with only one thing in mind being the big box and the corruption, to this day the leaders till don’t give a crap what the outcome was. They did these agreements with countries that do not run on capitalism, with countries where corporate criminality leads the way, where corruption is number one. For example when we began trade with China, did the west look at the fact that China steals Intellectual property constantly, that China will manipulate money constantly in order to bury us? Either it was something they didn’t look at or figured screw it, we’ll deal with it later type scenarios. However all these years have past and the IP theft only gets worse, the money manipulation grows to obscene levels and the U.S. loses its trade edge and until finally trade is gone altogether from the U.S. It was never a fair deal to begin with because America was the only fair country, meaning that we abided by rules while we got screwed and raped over and over again.
One day we all wake up and our luxury is a piece of shit from Korea(Hyundai) and our American iconic luxury car(Cadillac) is made in China, 90% of the Ebay businesses are from the Asian regions that state they are from America, mostly California. In fact speaking of Ebay and IP theft, I can remember around 6 years ago where people were heavily complaining about all the fake items being sold on Ebay ranging from Rolex to Fashion clothing to even Perfumes that smell like cat urine. Ebay vowed to put an end to this monstrosity and put together a team of specialized loss prevention fraud investigators. The team was very strong and gung hoe in the beginning, however now you don’t here anything like it. There is more fake goods on Ebay today that there was back then and the difference is that America has gotten so screwed in the past from both its own big box companies to IP theft gurus that they have become passive. The best luxury is now shit and we have become used to shit, products from big box stores that last a few washes and as good as garbage.
Why doesn’t E-bay stop Chinese sellers from selling? They need them, they need fake products it seems or its just too daunting to try and remove them. Technology companies have a tendency to favor the fraudsters over the consumers, such as Odesk. Just try and put a bad comment on a total scammer from Pakistan, India or Bangladesh. Odesk has figured out a way to stop good paying consumers from leaving truthful feedback and one of those ways is by not allowing feedback if there is no money transaction. The criminal workers know this policy well and take full advantage of it. For example if you send them $1.00, you can leave a comment but they will immediately send your dollar back and the comment disappears. There is a tremendous off balance that favors fraudster criminals over paying consumers and the reason is simple, so the idiot consumers will continue using the criminals so they get paid.
What the west could have done to prevent this
It’s been spoken of by many businessmen including Trump and Romney that we could have made trade strong agreements that favored us rather than the foreign countries. We knew they were lawless countries that wouldn’t suddenly change into lawful countries because they did trade with the lawful country. These countries are lawless and unorganized massively corrupt and take advantage of anything that gets in their way. Why would they not take advantage of Americans? You could say Americans should be smarter than that and I agree, however many westerners who you can hear now saying that all people are the same or those that feel we didn’t get screwed with the way globalization was set up with no agreements stating it must be lawful trade and not toxic trade. Problem is also that most Americans that are not avid travelers or cultural experts will not understand the lawlessness of these countries, thinking that we are really all alike which is far from the truth.
Now we lose out great American heritage, we lose our freedom, we lose our awesome advantage of creativity and creation because it was stolen from us under bad trade deals. We will continue to create and innovate as it is the only thing left we have that has not been stolen yet, however with the stringent tightening and massive regulations, it may very well stifle some of the best entrepreneurial spirit moving forward which is from America, the greatest innovative country on earth.
If you or anyone can name something good that came out of globalization for the west, please leave a comment.
