As long as I can remember a serious dog killing problem among the police was not even close to where it stands today. Today it seems that along with the newly formed militarization of local police came a major loss of empathy for animal life. Every single time you turn around there is more news on an unjustified dog killing. No, not an “aggressive pitbull” but even smaller regular non aggressive breeds and each cop that puts a bullet in these dogs heads claims the dog was the aggressor. In this case however, there many times is proof that shows the dogs being killed with no aggression at all.
Has empathy left our country America
Whatever happened to the great stories of cops saving dogs? What ever happened to the great old movies like Turner and Hooch from the early 90’s? Or that K9 movie that James Belushi starred in also in the 90’s. This was when the police weren’t militarized and it makes you wonder if the new protect yourself style instead of protecting the public is teaching them to not only put bullets in dogs heads upon break in warrants before even knowing if the dog is aggressive, or putting a bullet in the Labradors head in the back yard of its own property for no reason what so ever leaves one to believe that this is either simply a societal change that is losing empathy all together, or a newly developed tactical training that teaches them to kill all dogs around any incident.
It becomes scary to even allow your own dog in your own back yard anymore as if a neighbor calls the police to look for someone, they may end up in your backyard and in a seconds time shoot and kill your friendly or not dog, even if he is not he is protecting his owners property which is normal. Just crazy! The differences between cops today and a decade ago is immense and the wrongful SWAT warrants issued have been significant and those also come with instant dog killings.
While becoming a cop today is nearly impossible to the job correctly, this is even a factor because you might be told or trained to kill dogs on site. Do these cops own there own dogs or do they just not give a shit about someone else’s dog like it is a disposable piece of shit item. This is a serious problem today that needs to be looked at. Empathy is an important part of being human and if we lose that we become animals that don’t give a shit for anything.
It must be part of the training regime which sucks if its true
I lean towards the fact that it must be included in the actual police military training regime because there are still a significant amount of Americans that like dogs, that would have a hard time just whacking out a dog on site, a small dog in front of a child, a Labrador in front of its owner that is getting attacked by a pitbull, a friendly dog in the backyard of a neighborhood house for no apparent reason and the list goes on and on. Are some of these justified, maybe but from the research we have done, read and watched videos of the percentage is very low. Most of the dogs getting shot in the head are average non pitbull dogs.
One of the problems is, just like the FDA doesn’t care what the Chinese send US pet stores that kill thousands of dogs, there are no laws against police putting bullets in the heads of dogs all day long. I have to say as a person at one time that wanted to work in the detective division, I am glad and thankful I do not and never did because these sudden militarized training techniques belong in Iraq fucking up the scum over there right now that murders children.
Different from a decade ago, now people need to fear the police, they need to put there dogs away in the closet somewhere because god forbid he/she is out, good chance of catching a bullet which is very unfortunate. The new militarization of police sucks, the training needs to get a massive revamp and start learning to protect and serve once again, instead of protect themselves and serve no one.
