Although slightly on the pessimistic side when it comes to getting anything in the citizens favor approved against the never seemingly never ending corrupt corporatism that plagues this country and since the USA in favor of corporatism is no longer the leading power, we should say around the globe. A few things going on as of late that seem very promising although obstacles continue to stand in the way and my guess is that by the time lobbyists are done with the stampede, these what seem to be good attempts to stifle the deadly GMO’s will probably be quashed. Here is the latest on the war against GMO’s:
Yesterday, Connecticut continued its crusade against genetically modified organisms with the passage of a bill banning the sale or planting of grass seed that has been genetically modified.
Genetically modified grass has been found to contaminate farms even miles away. And if genetically modified grasses blow onto the crops of organic farms, farmers can no longer label their product as organic, said Philip Miller, a state representative for District 36 who was involved in the passage of the bill.
Genetically modified organisms (GMOS) are living organisms — such as corn — that have scientifically modified DNA for the purpose of producing a greater yield, developing insect resistance, or promoting more favorable traits in the organism. This is not the Connecticut legislature’s first attempt to moderate GMOs. A year ago, the Connecticut legislature passed a bill mandating that food containing genetically modified organisms be labeled, though supermarket aisles across the state continue to go unlabeled.
According to the bill passed last June, Connecticut cannot label GMOs in food products until at least four other states follow suit, one of which must share a border with Connecticut. This clause was embedded in the bill because Connecticut is not large enough to control food distribution in the Northeast. Since Connecticut’s bill — the first bill regulating GMO labeling in the nation — only Maine has passed legislation. Vermont, Massachusetts and Maryland currently have bills in the works.
We fear the following statement “And if genetically modified grasses blow onto the crops of organic farms, farmers can no longer label their product as organic” might be too little too late as this could quite possibly be the highly secretive chemtrails that are spewing their shit day in and day out on the American people, from what I have heard the Eurozone as well. These chemtrails may contain some sort of GMO seeds or some type of chemicals that will render farms useless and later force farms to only grow Monsanto GMO’s. It is quite possible as the monster Monsanto knows states are beginning to fight back, they are dropping these chemtrails nonstop. Again we do not know for sure what these chemtrails have in them, but what we do know is that they are highly secretive from the citizenry and must have some type of altering ingredient.
What would happen if this type of corruption with GMO’s continues to flourish moving forward?
They have already proven that these GMO’s are harmful in many ways, they are cancerous and contain high quantities of toxicity which have left many human sick from eating this crap. We are not a nation that cares about health, we are a nation that is ruled by corporatism that will not stop unless places like CT will grow and fight against this devastating situation that has developed.
GMOs have come under attack since they were linked to harmful effects both in the environment and for human health, according to Jerry Silbert, director of anti-pesticide lobbying organization ConnFACT. He explained that genetically modified crops have been shown to collect phosphates, a chemical that degrades soil, and to adversely affect human health.
We would essentially be a sick or a dead world moving forward. Do you remember seeing futuristic movies and when you see the outside scenes there is no more green. It is all dirt and filthy, they like to blame this on global warming but the reality is that it is nothing more then toxicities being forced on our earth in the name of profits. Do they think of long term health? No, they think of maximizing profits as long as they can and worry about the millions of sick individuals later. What happens if all the birds die? We are already losing bee’s by the millions for years. This has got to be the reason.
People not only get sick from ingesting GM foods, but also wearing BT Cottons that were forced on the farmers for some time. Sheets, shirts, clothes are all tainted.
Once the corn started to get planted our bees died by the millions,” Schuit said. He and many others, including the European Union, are pointing the finger at a class of insecticides known as neonicotinoids, manufactured by Bayer CropScience Inc. used in planting corn and some other crops. The European Union just recently voted to ban these insecticides for two years, beginning December 1, 2013, to be able to study how it relates to the large bee kill they are experiencing there also.
Local grower Nathan Carey from the Neustadt, and National Farmers Union Local 344 member, says he noticed this spring the lack of bees and bumblebees on his farm. He believes that there is a strong connection between the insecticide use and the death of pollinators.
“I feel like we all have something at stake with this issue,” he said. He is organizing a public workshop and panel discussion about this problem at his farm June 22 at 10 a.m. He hopes that all interested parties can get together and talk about the reason bees, the prime pollinators of so any different plant species, are dying.
At the farm of Gary Kenny, south west of Hanover, eight of the 10 hives he kept for a beekeeper out of Kincardine, died this spring just after corn was planted in neighbouring fields.
What seems to be deadly to bees is that the neonicotinoid pesticides are coating corn seed and with the use of new air seeders, are blowing the pesticide dust into the air when planted. The death of millions of pollinators was looked at by American Purdue University. They found that, “Bees exhibited neurotoxic symptoms, analysis of dead bees revealed traces of thiamethoxam/clothianidin in each case. Seed treatments of field crops (primarily corn) are the only major source of these compounds.
Local investigations near Guelph, led to the same conclusion. A Pest Management Regulatory Agency investigation confirmed that corn seeds treated with clothianidin or thiamethoxam “contributed to the majority of the bee mortalities” last spring.
“The air seeders are the problem,” said Ontario Federation of Agriculture director Paul Wettlaufer, who farms near Neustadt. This was after this reporter called John Gillespie, OFA Bruce County president, who told me to call Wettlaufer. Unfortunately, Wettlaufer said it was, “not a local OFA issue,” and that it was an issue for the Grain Farmers of Ontario and representative, Hennry Vanakum should be notified. Vanakum could not be rached for comment.
When you go to a GMO website or a website that speaks negatively about GMO’s you will find that paid commenters will plague the website with fake type arguments in order to pollute the minds of the citizenry. For example when we go to any website that speaks of Monsanto company, we found absolute ridiculous arguments in favor of the Monsanto company that should never have gotten to where it is today in the name of health. This company has already or will have the great power to control whether you live or die, whether you eat or starve, whether you have warm clothes or freeze and this will all be done in the name of global warming. How did Monsanto get where they are today? By posing arguments that seem realistic as shown below:
It’s articles like this that promote a huge bias towards the topic of genetically modified foods. Yeah Monsanto has their ethnical and political disputes and I understand why people are pissed off. HOWEVER, you can say all you like about GM foods but the without them, our population would run out of food resources. Almost all vegetables, fruits and grains nowadays have been GM in some way to increase the yield of these products. And yes you probably eat foods that have GM ingredients in them everyday. If the production of GM foods stopped all together, simply put we would all starve.
Look at it from this perspective. Many companies worldwide are creating GM foods such as corn, rice and wheat so these seeds can be planted in third world countries. The millions of people that starve everyday in these countries are all because weather factors like drought prevent the growth of major food resources (Corn and rice). These foods are being modified so that they can grow and strive in low nutrient conditions so that people in third world countries do not have to starve another day.
Also, with the population of all major countries world wide drastically increasing, there is going to be a much larger demand for food resources. So whether you like it or not, our plant in the next 10 years is going to start depending on GM foods. And please stop getting the impression the GM foods are going to be a major killer worldwide. People will die more from high cholesterol in fast food.
hooray, more pseudo environmentalist lies about GM.
I look at the anti GM crowd in the same way that i look at the anti vaccine crowd…the results of their lies are just as devastating and just as misinformed.
Yes Monsanto is a big evil company…you can thank neo-liberalism for that…It’s right wing politics that have deregulaised the industry to the point where one major company can call all the shots.
But the anti GM crowd are also to blame for monsanto’s success.
After all, so many people shouting MONSANTO at the top of their voices…you literally couldn’t pay for advertising like that…the assault of misinformation on GM has also pretty much made it a toxic asset for any other company to try it’s hand in, so thanks to the anti-GM movement, Monsanto will forever hold the monopoly on GM.
I always find it funny when anti-GM protesters call GM “Frankenfoods” Afterall, Frankenstein s monster was the innocent creation of a man trying to cure death with science, a creation that was hunted down by an ignorant torch wielding mob who didn’t care what it was or what it meant, but just knew they didn’t like it.
the irony is obviously lost on the thousands of gm protestors who have never seen Frankenstein.
And your stake in what other people choose to eat is…?
being one of the not so well off members of society who is directly and drastically effected by the rising cost of food.
And this online war between the paid commenters and the informed citizenry is in full blast and becomes difficult considering the backing that the huge company holds, not to mention the help it continues to get. We the people are at an all out war for our health and can only continue to write our state reps et al in an effort to stop what is already largely in effect. Chemtrails are not slowing down and may very well be them rapidly contaminating all the seeding in the nation in order to no longer care about upcoming votes or bills.
GMO’s are one of the most serious problems facing the world today and will be a battle to save our life. This is not some stupid scandal, this is our future our health our well being and our freedom to choose and live the way we want. This GMO craziness robs that from all of us worldwide.
