It was only a decade ago that Rayban Luxottica group customer service was excellent. A person could have a factory defect or a premature problem with the sunglasses and give them a call, send them in and get a replacement or get them repaired for free. Which is understandably correct given the fact that a pair of Aviator sunglasses has a cost of over $150.00 to $220.00 on their website and through Rayban stores.
What has happened to Rayban customer Service
A large population influx with massive buyers giving them the ability to shit on their loyal customers while simply developing new ones. It is a bad case of we really don’t care syndrome.
In essence what happens now is when you purchase a pair of Rayban sunglasses or any of the Luxottica groups glasses you are buying at your own risk and just because you paid premium pricing for a pair of shades that probably cost them a couple of dollars to make does no longer matter even a smidgen.
Warranty service is essentially sales service. You send in the shades and they get you with sales immediately. The game is to upsell the customer that just already spent big bucks on a pair. They will explain the problem is not theirs but they will do you a favor and sell you a new pair at half the price which if they are aviators for example the minimum cost is $160.00 so you are looking at $80.00 to replace them. If you should decide not to replace them, you will have to give them a credit card to get yours back in the amount of $12.50 which they will repeatedly explain this is non refundable.
In one customers instance, the Rayban Aviators had an obvious weld height difference in arms and Luxottica groups “Carl” who was the overlooking person in charge of this warranty disagreed and said the customer was at fault.
The new way of companies in America that are decaying via customer service and appreciation. We can now say that Rayban and anything Luxottica group are scratched off of our list including their cheap Chinese Oakley’s that they sell for over $200.00 a pair. People wake up, don’t buy this crap for $150 plus. These glasses are worth about $10.00 max for the design alone.
